Ron Q Memorial Scholarship For 2019 CCHS Senior from the Class of 2008
Ronald Quashie, Jr., CCHS Class of 2008, is remembered as a brilliant and kind-hearted person whose smile and genuine nature made him a beloved friend to all who knew him. Throughout his life, Ronald remained committed to education. After graduating from Chamblee Charter High School in 2008, he went on to attend Mercer University where he was studying to be an educator.
To honor his memory, the CCHS Class of 2008 is awarding a $1000 scholarship, the Ron Q Memorial Scholarship, to a CCHS graduate in the Class of 2019. The North Atlanta Rotary Scholarship is a one time monetary scholarship to be given to a graduating senior from Chamblee Charter High School for the purpose of supporting their continuing education. The student must be a matriculating senior accepted into an accredited higher learning institution. Applications are available in the Counseling Office and are due by May 3, 2019.
Seniors are requested to please submit copies of all scholarship offers (emails, letters, and screenshots)to their counselor and indicate whether or not you accepted the offer. This includes academic, athletic, merit, HOPE or private scholarships. The information will be used for acknowledgements at Senior Honors as well as to track how much money was offered to the class of 2019 to announce at graduation.Please submit all documentation by May 3, 2019.
Friday, May 3 is Decision Day at CCHS. All Seniors are asked to wear either a t-shirt representtng the college they plan to attend or the college colors. Not going to college? Not a problem! Wear something to indicate their plans. Military? Working? CCHS We wants to celebrate it all!
A celebration will be held during lunch on May 3 for all senior students. Seniors will also be allowed to announce their college decision by posting a copy of their acceptance letter on the bulletin board outside of counseling. Be sure to black out any personal info including address, student numbers etc.
2019 Senior Exit Survey.....By now, all current active 12th graders should have received an email message in their DCSD student account and a message within their Infinite Campus account regarding the Senior Exit Survey. Seniors are requested to please complete the short survey. The deadline to complete the survey is May 3, 2019.
Senior Final Exam Exemption forms will be available from the Counseling Office beginning Wednesday, May 1, 2019. Students in 12th grade are scheduled to take their Spring Semester Exams, May 14-17, 2019. (See the Senior Exam Schedule below). Senior students are invited to apply for one or more exam exemptions. Details for exemption qualifications are as follows:
· Teacher of Record has consented to allowing exam exemptions in their course
· 90 or above average in the course the student is seeking exemption from
· No more than four excused absences in the class the student is seeking exemption from
· No student discipline referrals and a satisfactory conduct record
· Any unexcused absence (i.e., skipping, unknown absence, etc.) in any class automatically disqualifies a student from receiving a course exemption
Students in the 12th grade may check in late, or, check out early, only if they exempt exams/review sessions at the beginning or end of the day. However, 12th graders will not be allowed to check out if they exempt exams in the middle of the day. Students must check in and out through the front desk (Attendance Office); only students who have exempted exams may exempt the review sessions.
All course exemptions are conditional; there may be additional coursework and/or absences that could impact a student’s requested exemption. Teacher and parent signature are required on the completed Final Exam Exemption Forms which must be turned in to the Counseling Office no later than May 8, 2019. Please note that no late forms will be accepted.

Remember that in order to exempt Senior Final Exams, the student may not have any unexcused absence in any class, not just the class they are applying to exempt.
